So glad I did, I started wearing them the second I got them and just love them so. First time out in them.. got two compliments from trendy gen z girlies, which is always a nice confidence boost for a millennial.. got to make sure I don’t fall off the face of the earth into irrelevance and baby strollers. I would say in terms of fit, they are larger, I’m a 39 or 8.5-9 in normal shoes and the 38s fit me best with labucq.

The leather is pretty stiff and I had to use a shoe expander to help break them in. But even then, the shoe is too narrow for someone with wider feet like me. It really hurts to walk in. I did read other reviews saying that if you have wide feet to reconsider but I went ahead and bought them anyway because they’re so pretty. I regret it now but hopefully the shoe expander can make them more bearable. Hate to have these shoes sitting in my closet.

Even with insoles and socks, the sole doesn't bend, so the heel slips. They are heavy and clunky.

The fine print was not terribly visible on this final sale item so I’m stuck with a pair of shoes I’ll never wear, and a brand I likely will not try again.
2024-02-29	Mika Loafer Variant: Mika Loafer Black	Beautiful shoe but poor quality jessica	I lusted after these shoes for years and after finally purchasing them, they have proved to be a big disappointment. Firstly, they take so long to break in and even once they have broken in, if you don't wear them for a few months, you essentially have to start the break-in process all over again. More egregiously, the entire heel of the left loafer completely fell off after 1.5 years of ownership (the loafers were not worn every day, but a few times a month during the fall and winter seasons). For the price of the shoe, that is unacceptable to me. And while a cobbler could fix this, I do not think a shoe in this price range should require repairs this quickly nor do I think providing this as a solution in regards to a serious quality issue from a customer is appropriate. I thought I was buying a pair of loafers that would last me for years to come, but that was certainly not the case here.

I bought these at 50% off because I found the Boomer sandals very lovely with a very comfortable fit right outside the box. These are also good quality but stiff and narrowly sized (I have narrow feet). I wish they had a slight rise. Also, tbh, the Boomer sandals haven't held up all THAT well. I hope I get a full second season out of them. Given the 350-400 price point, that seems wrong!

I was surprised though because I ordered the Joan boot and this loafer in the same size and they fit dramatically different. I understand loafers need breaking in but don't be fooled by the reviewers who say it only takes a day or two. Mine has taken a couple weeks including using a shoe stretcher.

The only con is that I am between sizes and sized down to avoid a loose shoe. I have Boomers in size 39, but those have adjustable straps. I opted for these in a 38, but I need to walk in them more to break them in. Might bring them in to my cobbler to speed up the process. But that said, they’re exactly what I was looking for and I feel like I’ll have them forever!

Initially I had a problem with heel slip, but could tell the rest of the shoe was a good fit so I waited out the break-in period. Once the heel backing and leather was broken in the heel slip went away. The leather is rich and sturdy. These feel like they’ll last ages if well taken care of, and they create an interesting, beautiful silhouette.

Sami Live	Labucq is a beautiful brand and I hope I own many more pairs of their shoes in my lifetime, but the Mika Loafers were so tight, I couldn't even get them on the second half of my foot. Not the tight that you break in and get used, the tight that locks you out, lol. I do have wider feet than narrow, but I'm always a size 39 in loafers, even when they have a metal bar on top (way more strict) but for some reason I could not for the life of me get these on. The exchange process was easy peasy though, just wish they would send out the new shoes before receiving the return ones, and if the customer doesn't send it out in time, they get charged for the exchanged shoe (just cause I want to wear these ASAP!). Exchanged for a size 40.

The new pair are still snug, but I have pretty wide feet. They broke in after around 4 days. I can tell they will eventually mold to my feet. High quality.

Anonymous	these shoes had a pretty rough break in period, but now that i've gotten through it they are soooo comfortable! and so cute, of course. i really wish they came in half sizes — the 38 was closer to an 8 than a 7.5 — but have pretty easily solved the problem of heel slippage with heel inserts. love these so much!

I purchased the correct size but the left slips off the loafer making it impossible to walk in. I considered perhaps I have narrow heels so I purchased some socks specifically designed to address that issue and still the heel slipped right off. It’s a gorgeous shoe but it was too uncomfortable.

However, I'm between a size 7-7.5 and ordered my usual 37 in this style, which fits me in all the right places but slips right off my heel when I walk. I've tried everything to solve this problem - bought all kinds of heel and toe inserts and thick and thin socks, but nothing has worked. They are the most beautifully made chunky loafers, but they are, unfortunately, gathering dust on my shoe rack :'(

They were super tight and uncomfortable and I thought I should’ve exchanged for a 36, but once I wore them for 3 days straight they loosened up and became the most comfortable and now my favorite shoes. These are also the more unique loafers I’ve come across while still remaining classic. Highly recommend!!

However, the material is very hard, didn’t feel comfortable and they kept sliding off my heels even when sizing down. I got them on sale and I was very discouraged when I found out I could only get a store credit, so beware if you are buying sale items. Customer service was very helpful and I’m crossing my fingers that whatever I get with my credit works out for me..I’ve already returned 2 pairs and paid for shipping. I wish there was a way to try them on!

You can’t return them if you bought them on sale, so buyer beware. In any case I ordered my true size and they were extremely tight and the stiff leather cut into the back of my heels until they bled with blisters. I still wore them out to break them in for 5-10 min at a time until the opening of the shoe just straight up tore. Customer support was generous and sent me another size up. I’ve really tried everything to make these work but now the heels slip. Shoe insets, heel protectors. I’m finally settling on stuffing the fronts with wool roving which prevents my heels from slipping but now my toes are smashed in. Haha I’m super disappointed because they look beautiful. If you have wider feet dont buy these on sale because you can’t return them. I’d try a boot style from Labucq over a loafer but not sure if it’s worth the heartache.

But neither the 38 nor 39 was wearable for me, a true size US8.5. The 38 was too tight, but even after it loosened a bit with wearing around the house, my heels would pop out. The 39 was gaping in the back and still tight elsewhere, even though I have narrow feet. They were really impossible to walk in, which is a shame because this is exactly the shoe I want to wear every day.

But on sizing, they feel unwearable, which is a huge bummer for me because the look is exactly what I want. I'm a true US 8.5. Size 38 is tight enough that it digs into my heels, and my outer toes are going numb. Size 39 is so large that there's about an inch of space between my heel and the shoe heel... I don't think an insole or thick socks can fix that. I'll wear the smaller size around the house for a bit to see if I can ease into it, but I am not willing to take my chance on having a cobbler stretching it out if it means losing the ability to return.

And they were fairly comfortable on even the first wear! My only issue was that my heel slips out a bit in the back--which may have been my fault ordering too large. Though with a heel inset its not a problem at all.

Maybe it’s just my type of foot, but I found the break-in period to be pretty brutal. These fit snug all around but my heel has a tendency to slide out (especially with socks); probably why sizing down is recommended. Any smaller for me would be too tight on the toes. It’s been a couple weeks now and getting better; taking to a cobbler to see what else can be done about the fit. TL;DR super smart and chic looking shoes with a break-in period for the dedicated. I don’t recommend wearing for more than an hour or two for the first couple of weeks.
2022-12-26	Mika Loafer Variant: Mika Loafer Extra Black	Tighter than expected Anonymous	I was very excited to finally get a pair of Labucq loafers and when they arrived the shoes were beautiful. They are quality leather and metal accessory and a nice rubber sole. However when I put them on I knew immediately this style would not work with my foot. The top is very narrow as well as the sides. I don’t have a particularly high arch or wide foot , but these are made very narrow all around. The leather is very stiff and although could be stretched a little, even having them on my feet briefly was very painful. The length seemed to be ok. I’m a 9 and ordered a 39 according the size chart which should be for an 8.5/9 as the 40 is said to be for 9.5/10 and I thought that would be too big. I returned the shoes which was an easy process, however I learned because they were 20% off , which I only knew from calculating it myself, that I could only get store credit. I did get a nice response back offering other shoe options for wider feet, but the styles were not what I was looking for and some of the prices were higher. I bought these shoes at this price because most of the other shoes are out of my price range, but now if I want another pair to use my credit , I will have to pay more money for another style and this felt a bit like a scheme to have people pay more than they intended for a shoe if the one they bought on sale didn’t work.

I finally decided to buy them, and I really can't justify their pricepoint in terms of functionality. The shoes were painfully tight to the point of not being able to walk. I was told this was part of the break in process by a member of the team and continued to wear the shoes around my place until the leather softened. The leather has softened slightly - but now the shoes slip off the back of my heels regardless of insoles. Sadly, there is no way for me to return these. I went through the entire break in process with them and still cannot wear them. Very disappointed.

2022-11-26	Mika Loafer Variant: Mika Loafer Black	Excellent shoes Helen Skuthorpe	Living in Italy I had quite a choice of shoes with a similar quality and price.I had been watching Labucq for a a while,appreciating their designs and quality.I decided on the Labucq black loafers as I found them to have an edge design wise on my other options, fashionably chunky but elegant and sleek at the same time.Very happy with them, I find the size to be generous but not even half a size larger.I read that they could be hard to break in but I found them very comfortable.I will definitely buy from them again.

I only knocked off a star because I found them to run quite large for me. I’m typically a 7.5 and ordered a 38, and they were slipping off my heels with every step. So sad! Once the 37 is back in stock, I’ll try that size. But they really are beautiful and clearly well made shoes.

2021-12-07	Mika Loafer Variant: Mika Loafer Black	Super Cute with One Caveat! Virginia Kice	This was my second pair of Labucqs. I purchased the Boomer sandal last year and love them. I hesitated on this loafer because my feet are on the wider side and these looked in photos as if they might be a bit narrow. Sadly, my suspicions were correct. I wear a 7 1/2, but sized up to the 38 - as I did with the Boomer. The length is fine, but the toe box is tight. Even after hours on a shoe stretcher they're still snug. Also the leather is quite heavy and stiff, so they don't give a lot. I'm going to take them to a cobbler to see if they can work on them to get me a bit more wiggle room. Regardless, I intend to wear them (they're really stunning), but just be warned, if you have wider feet this may not be your best choice.

After exchanging for a smaller size, i really wanted to be able to keep these because they are soooo cute, but sadly they are also very painful to wear for my feet. They might have softened after a couple months wear, but i just couldn’t justify the price tag for the blisters that would inevitably ensue for me. The leather is very very thick (feels so well made and like they would last a lifetime!) but that also meant they were super stiff and would obliterate the back of my heel. I would Definitely try purchasing these again if they came out with a softer leather for a comfier fit.

I have the Mika loafer in tan, have only worn once and I’m pretty sure I’m going to be wearing it a lot as well. Both fit true ti size, comfortable and durable.
